Dear Spectroscopist Colleaugue,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to call your kind
attention to the following conference:

6th European Furnace Symposium and 11th Solid Sampling Colloquium with
Atomic Spectrometry
Balatonföldvár, Hungary, June 27-30, 2004

Scope of the Conference
This will be the second joint conference of the formerly
separately organized two conference series, European Furnace Symposium
and Solid Sampling Colloquium with Atomic Spectrometry, while continuing
the use of these traditional names. For the coming meeting, organized in
Hungary, we define a general topic as elemental analysis by spectrometry
which also includes those atomic spectrometry methods and applications
which are beyond the borderlines of the emphasized topics mentioned
specifically below. By this concept it is expected to attract a broader
circle of potential participants.
As in the former meeting, held in Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria), the
specific subjects will be furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS)
of solution and solid samples; furnace electrothermal vaporization (ETV)
used as sample introduction to ICP-OES/MS to powder, slurry and solution
samples (ETV-ICP-OES/MS); direct sample insertion and slurry
nebulization for ICP-OES/MS; laser and spark ablation ICP-OES/MS; laser
induced plasma emission spectrometry; and arc, spark, glow discharge
OES/MS. As mentioned above, presentation on other atomic spectrometry
methods (e.g., flame-AAS, total reflection X-Ray fluorescence and
various dissolution based methods) will also be incorporated into the
program. New scientific results may also be presented on studies and
interpretations of processes in spectroscopic sources, developments in
instrumentation, software, methodology, standardization and validation.
